What is MicroStrategy?
MicroStrategy for Office is a set of add-ins that integrate MicroStrategy's analytics capabilities directly into Microsoft Office applications like Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
What does MicroStrategy do?
MicroStrategy for Office allows users to:
• Import and refresh reports, dashboards, datasets, and cubes from MicroStrategy directly into Excel.
• Embed visualizations into PowerPoint presentations.
• Access dashboards and bots within Microsoft Teams, and pin content to channels.
This integration enables business users to work with live data and analytics within familiar Office tools, enhancing productivity and decision-making without switching platforms.
How do I get access to the MicroStrategy add-in in Microsoft Office?
Before using the MicroStrategy add-in, users must be granted access via the Active Directory group fim-mstr-Exceladdin.
If you do not already have access:
- Submit an Active Directory Group Access Request via ServiceNow.
- Request membership to: fim-mstr-Exceladdin
How do I enable the MicroStrategy add-in?
Excel is used as an example. PowerPoint follows the same steps.
Launch Excel
Open Microsoft Excel on your workstation.
Locate the MicroStrategy for Office Button
Navigate to the Home tab and look for the MicroStrategy for Office button.
If the Button Is Missing: Add the Add-In Manually
Click on the Add-Ins button, select + More Add-ins, and go to the Admin Managed section.
Refresh the Add-In List
If the list appears blank, click Refresh and wait for the list to update.
Install MicroStrategy for Office
Locate the app named MicroStrategy for Office and click Add to install the Add-In.
Verify Installation
Return to the Home tab and confirm that the MicroStrategy for Office button is now visible. Clicking Log in will bring up an Okta SSO screen. Once connected you can use the Add-In.
