Upgrade to Windows 11
Your device needs to be upgraded or replaced with a new device that supports Windows 11 by February 2025. Windows 11 is a free upgrade. You can see if the update is available here or if your device doesn't meet the requirements.
Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.
- You can also use the search feature in the "type here to search" or the "Magnifying glass icon" to search for "Check for updates."
Upgrading
Please beware and pay close attention to the prompts during the upgrade process. Any mention of creating a Microsoft Account or enhancements that take you through an account setup should be avoided. You should see options at the bottom to decline, go back, or continue with a limited setup.
Creating a Microsoft Account and linking it to your Windows 11 install could cause backup or printing setup issues.
